In-House Lab Testing and Cat and Dog X-ray Imaging in Tampa, FL

Partners Animal Hospital Tampa uses in-house laboratory equipment and digital X-ray to evaluate your pet’s condition, investigate potential problems, and make the most accurate diagnosis possible. Since dogs and cats are unable to tell us about their health problems, it is up to us to be their voice and get the answers we need to administer appropriate treatment. If your pet seems unwell or is due for their annual checkup, they should see us for an exam and diagnostics so we can better understand their health and provide them with the highest standard of care.

How Our In-House Lab Equipment Benefits Your Pet

Our hospital uses advanced in-house laboratory equipment which allows us to get quicker test results when needed. We can screen for a variety of health issues in dogs and cats, and detect subtle changes that would not be apparent with a physical exam.

Some of the tests we can perform in-house include:

  • CBC (complete blood count)
  • Fecal examination
  • Blood chemistry
  • Heartworm test
  • Tick-borne disease test
  • Urinalysis

Along with our in-house testing, Partners Animal Hospital Tampa also works with experts at other laboratories to perform routine comprehensive testing.

Why does My Cat or Dog Need an X-Ray?

X-rays are the best way for us to view and screen for issues related the bones, joints, heart, and lungs. While most pets will rarely, if ever, need X-rays, older dogs and cats or pets that are chronically ill may need to have X-rays taken regularly so we can keep an eye on their condition. An acute injury may also require X-rays to determine severity.

Your pet might need X-rays if they:

  • Are having difficulty breathing
  • Have a chronic cough
  • Are showing lameness in one or more limbs
  • Have trouble jumping, walking up and down the stairs, and getting up
  • Possibly have hip or elbow dysplasia, or arthritis
  • Ingested a foreign object
  • Suffered a traumatic fall or impact
